Is The MCU Dead?

Following some lackluster entries and tepid responses, is the long reign of the Marvel Cinematic Universe over?

That is the question that Screencrush seeks to answer in this very informative and carefully considered video. Since its rise to dominance with THE AVENGERS, people have been quick to declare MCU dead. Some for legitimate reasons, some just to be petty, others because they (rightfully) resent what tentpole pictures like Marvel’s have done to the cinematic landscape. And now, with these recent middling shows and films, there’s more blood in the water than ever before and it’s leading many people to question the viability and future of the MCU.

Host Ryan Arey (assisted by his faithful canine companion, Doug) looks at a whole host of elements and aspects as he debates the future of the mega movie studio. Arey examines the history of the studio itself, how they got from IRON MAN to Secret Invasion and their very unique way of crafting stories and films (and TV shows). He also looks at how cinematic genres grow and mutate over time, going through certain eras as audiences get familiar (and oversaturated). And he carefully dissects the big two roads that lie ahead for the movie studio.

Only time will reveal the fate of the MCU, but it’s a fascinating watch with much to consider as people ponder what comes next.
