Begun The Neon Splatter Has…

Well…technically begun Neon Splatter did one year ago as today is the first anniversary of this site.

What a year. I mean, relatively quiet for Neon Splatter. But globally? Jesus Christ. Not great, Bob; not great Bob, indeed.

Thank you for visiting the site—even if this post is literally your first time doing so. I hope you dig it. For a site like this, it can sometimes feel like writing into a vacuum. But folks are sharing our posts on social media and responding to them, and there is traffic. And given their response of “I don’t what it is” and “what am I supposed to get out of it,” I can remain confident that it certainly isn’t solely my parents checking out this website.

Honestly it wouldn’t even be a website without the incredible talents of the many contributors (over 70!), the fabulous staff, and the numerous folks that donate their gifts of music, design, and more.

Remember that we are always looking for contributors; you can have a massive portfolio or never written for anywhere before. You can pitch a new idea or you can contribute to one of the rolling features like Added To Watchlist or My Mixtape’s A Masterpiece.

We especially encourage non-white, non-cishet, non-binary, non-male writers as too often those voices have been drowned out and every outlet can do better to lift them up and be amazed at the dope talent that is cast from the spotlight too frequently. There’ll be a post later today that delves into more about the past year and looking forward, but for now please enjoy this celebration (or “jubilee” if you will) of the past year, the amazing writers, and a place that is striving to be a fun oasis with a unique vibe.
