“Spin” (Parody of “Shout”)
Right up front, admittedly this isn’t directly related to holiday action. I mean, it’s tied to the holiday of Chanukah, but there’s very little violence or gunplay in this music video. In fact…there’s none. But there are pro-wrestlers, a snowmobile crash, and an ad for ANT-MAN…so that’s something?
But this is a self-serving post that also acts as a testament to one of my friends and a contributor to this very site, Keith Doughty. My collaborator on Goonies: The Musical, Keith performed this little ditty I wrote that parodies “Shout” by Tears For Fears. But this Hannukah-centric song is not about the intensifying rage that burns inside of us, but the innocuous if fairly boring game of dreidel. Today is Keith’s birthday, so in honor you can watch the video below and find the entire song on SoundCloud. You will realize you forgot that the original Tears For Fears tune is a bit over six-minutes long.
Happy Birthday, Keith! Hope you like yiddish jokes!
