Twin Peaks - Georgia Coffee (1993)

An element of the Internet that doesn’t get the amount of praise it deserves is access to foreign commercials. It’s real sociological insight into the type of products, humor, priorities, and more of different countries. The added bonus, of course, is finally being able to see advertisements made with American celebrities that were only supposed to air in other nations.

In 1993, David Lynch directed four commercials—sorry, a four-part advertising campaign—that told a sequential story over the course of those TV spots that took place in the world of Twin Peaks, complete with multiple characters and locations from the show.

Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) helps a man named Ken (Taka Higuchi) find his missing wife while enjoying a delicious cup of Georgia Coffee. Lynch made these after filming FIRE WALK WITH ME and uses music from the score by Angelo Badalamenti. In addition to MacLachlan, other Peaks actors that appear include Harry Goaz (Andy Brennan), Kimmy Robertson (Lucy Moran), Michael Horse (Deputy Tommy 'Hawk' Hill), Mädchen Amick (Shelly Johnson), and Catherine E. Coulson (The Log Lady).

The Twin Peaks fandom wiki is VERY clear that these commercials are non-canonical. Though they are listed as a mini-series on IMDb. Curiouser and curiouser. In addition to the Internet helping spread the word of this bizarre corporate tie-in, the Georgia Coffee ads were also included in multiple boxed sets for Lynch’s series.
