We Hate Movies On 1985’s SILVER BULLET
We Hate Movies is a true aural gem that has led to millions of improved hours with their hilarities, shenanigans, and the occasional make-’em-ups on their delightful podcast (plus multiple branching/specialty shows that focus on Lifetime movies, Bevery Hills 90210/Melrose Place, Star Trek, Star Wars, and Korn!). They also tend to have great horror movie episodes, doled out throughout the year but also as part of their annual October Spooktacular.
An early episode in their ongoing yet also storied run was covering 1985’s SILVER BULLET, the Stephen King adaptation directed by Daniel Attias (and written by King). Based on Cycle Of The Werewolf, the movie stars Corey Haim, Megan “#ForeverMYAnneOfGreenGables” Follows, Everett McGill, and Gary Busey and it switches between some fun ‘80s moments and some truly poorly executed scenes of drama and/or horror.
There’s a sweet one-two punch of sequences that involves Busey’s character making and giving the cinematic titular wheelchair to his nephew (Haim) which is then followed up by solo fireworks fun and a bit of a werewolf fracas. And the gentlemen of WHM have a good time with whole disastrous situation—whether it’s Busey’s incompetent uncle-ing or Attais’ incompetent filmmaking. You can (and really should) listen to the whole episode right here, but below is a fun video edit that includes the WHM commentary. Enjoy!
