Weird Al Invades San Francisco In 1984

Oh sure, EVERYONE loves “Weird” Al Yankovic now. But where were you during the heady “All About The Pentiums” days? What about those dicey UHF years? Oh you were a fan then because he’s maintained a steady fanbase and constantly adding new ones as more people discover his music and comedic genius? Well played, imaginary adversary; well played.

Back in 1984, resh off the success of “Eat It,” Weird Al worked with a local San Francisco TV show known as San Francisco Hot Rock. Besides cutting the promo for a contest, the video finds the Weird One hanging out with the two contest winners backstage at the Warfield Theater before one of his concerts. There’s lots of ‘80s junk food (gotta love that packaging!) and something about Weird Al talking about the making of the music video for “I Lost On Jeopardy” and its geriatric cameos that tickles me something fierce.
