Cavity Colors’ AMERICAN WEREWOLF Collection

In the great canon of horror films, the one sub-genre I always feel is underrepresented is the werewolf movie. I’m not sure why that is. Maybe it’s because the mythos are seen as pretty cut and dry. Therefore creatives don’t gravitate towards creating more lycanthropic cinema when there’s less room to explore. Perhaps it’s cost prohibitive since the most important part of any werewolf film is the werewolf, so if there’s not enough in the budget for practical f/x or CG, then it’s hard to shoot around it (although DOG SOLDIERS and THE BEAST MUST DIE both succeeded at this).

Or maybe filmmakers feel like the best has already been made, so why try to reinvent the wheel? If their work will always be unfavorably compared to these titans of the sub-genre, then how much space is really left over for these new movies?

That actually makes sense to me. I love the GINGER SNAPS trilogy, THE WOLFMAN (1941), THE HOWLING (1981), and THE COMPANY OF WOLVES (1984).

Although, for me, the best werewolf movie has to be AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON (1981).

Besides the top-notch creature/transformation effects, the score, the cinematography, the story is so brilliant and relatable. Also, no other werewolf film perfectly combines horror and comedy quite like AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON.

This is why I’m so excited to see Cavity Colors, horror-centric clothing company, come out with a new collection dedicated to this wonderful film.

The centerpiece of this collection is the montage art of Devon Whitehead. Devon is best known for creating the hyper-stylized artwork on the cover of several Scream Factory collector’s edition Blu-rays. This design is available on a unisex short sleeve t-shirt, a ladies fit, and a baseball raglan style.

Besides the Devon Whitehead design, there are two other t-shirts available as well. The first is a black transformation design by artist Jert printed on a white t-shirt. This maybe my favorite out of the collection due to it’s vintage feel. The other is their “Beware the Moon” t-shirt designed by artist Hillary White, which feature a full-size werewolf print on the front of the shirt and “Beware the Moon!” in big red letters on the back.

On those days when it’s a little too chilly to rock just a t-shirt, Cavity Colors has you covered. To round out their AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON collection, they enlisted the talented graphic artist Dismay Design to come up with a suitable long sleeve shirt and matching sweatpants/joggers. They didn’t disappoint. This punk/metal vibe is perfect homage to this ‘80s classic.

I’ll tell you from experience that Cavity Colors doesn’t mess around. Their quality is unmatched. Their joggers fit perfectly: snug at the ankles and waist, while roomy in the legs—just the way I like ‘em.

If you’re looking for the perfect gear for howling at the moon, check out Cavity Colors on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, or, better yet, go over to their website and check out their AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON collection ASAP!

Tell ‘em Neon Splatter sent ya, and as always, remember to BUY OR DIE!
