100 MONSTERS Watch Party (August 27)

This Saturday, August 27, Neon Splatter is joining a watch party of the 1968 Japanese classic 100 MONSTERS (also known as YOKAI MONSTERS: 100 MONSTERS). It’s a terrifically fun monster movie with great creature designs, cultural references, wackiness, and more. Yokai are a fascinating aspect of Japanese folklore, and director Kimiyoshi Yasuda makes ample use of their weirdness and variety.

The plot summary for 100 MONSTERS is:

The local yôkai (Japanese spirits) interfere to avenge a murder and thwart the plans of corrupt officials.

For the physical media minded, there’s a terrific boxed set from Arrow that I can’t recommend enough.
