Each week, Neon Splatter contributors offer up some viewing options found on streaming (U.S. unless otherwise noted). Movies, TV shows, specials, and more. New and old, from all sorts of genres and nations. Most importantly, we deem them worthy of your time.

Alexis M. Collazo: Hellbound (2021 - )

What It Is: Maddie Curtis (Monica Keena) and her sexy friends Lily (Diora Baird) and Suzanne (Shannon Elizabeth) are ready for a terror of a Halloween party at the Broussard Mansion in New Orleans where 80 years ago six people disappeared without a trace. Now the demons are back with a chance to break free of their ancient curse.

Where It Is: Prime Video

Why You Should Watch It: “As a remake of a cult classic, it's a fun watch for fans of gory teen horror movies. They added a bit more background story, but viewers will likely appreciate the newer effects more than anything else.”

Jeremy Lowe: WEIRD: THE AL YANKOVIC STORY (2022)

What It Is: From a conventional upbringing where playing the accordion was a sin, Al rebelled and made his dream of changing the words to world-renowned songs come true. An instant success and sex symbol, Al lives an excessive lifestyle and pursues an infamous romance that nearly destroys him.

Where It Is: The Roku Channel

Why You Should Watch It: “I’ve always been a fan of “Weird” Al as far back as I can remember, so when this movie was first announced I was super excited, then I saw the trailer and my mind was blown. Daniel Radcliffe kills it as the titular character, and the rest the cast is amazing as well. I’m so glad they made this film a parody, just like the songs that made “Weird” Al famous. I laughed from beginning to end. If you liked UHF (1989), then you’ll love WEIRD: THE AL YANKOVIC STORY. Highly Recommended!”

Kiley Fox: THE FLINTSTONES (1994)

What It Is: In this live-action adventure, Fred Flintstone takes an executive position, where his boss sets him up to take the fall for an embezzlement scheme.

Where It Is: Tubi

Why You Should Watch It: “Leaving Tubi soon! I enjoy this more as an adult than I did as a kid. The casting was perfection. This feels almost like a soap opera about fantasy prehistoric suburbanites. I'm surprised David Lynch didn't show up, because if you think about it, playing all this straight, is wild.”

Khayla McGowan: BARBARIAN (2012)

What It Is: In town for a job interview, a young woman arrives at her Airbnb rental late at night only to find that the house has been mistakenly double-booked and a strange man is already staying there. Against her better judgment, she decides to stay the night anyway, but soon discovers that there is much more to be afraid of in the house than the other house guest.

Where It Is: HBO Max

Why You Should Watch It: “What a wild time...the unexpected humor in this one is what solidified this as a rewatchable gem for me. I love a good horror movie that makes large points with subtler details, but doesn't hesitate to thump the audience over the head with some good humor as relief!”

Rob Dean:  BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA (1992)

What It Is: This version of Dracula is closely based on Bram Stoker's classic novel. Young barrister Jonathan Harker is assigned to a gloomy village in the mists of eastern Europe. He is captured and imprisoned by the undead vampire Dracula, who travels to London, inspired by a photograph of Harker's betrothed, Mina Murray. In Britain, Dracula begins a reign of seduction and terror, draining the life from Mina's closest friend, Lucy Westenra. Lucy's friends gather together to try to drive Dracula away.

Where It Is: Prime Video

Why You Should Watch It: “Sumptuously rendered tale from Francis Ford Coppola with an all-star cast, some exquisite costume and production designs, and brilliant old timey in-camera effects. If it weren’t for Lugosi, Oldman would be THE definitive cinematic Dracula. Plus Tom Waits!”

Shafi Malik: LOST BULLET (2020)

What It Is: A small time delinquent, turned police mechanic for a go fast task force, is forced to defend his innocence when his mentor is killed by dirty cops.

Where It Is: Netflix

Why You Should Watch It: “As the anticipated sequel is released this weekend, why not familiarise yourself with one of the best Action-thrillers released in the past few years. It was incorrectly hyped as France’s answer to the FAST & FURIOUS franchise. But I think it's more akin to something Ringo Lam would have put together if he was still alive. Plus that police station sequence is so damned badass! Bring on number 2!”
