“More links than a Zelda Convention…” - Erin B. Gaskill
If you trust me about nothing else…I am promising you’ll want to bookmark Nestflix on your browser. It’s a collection of fake movies within movies/pretend shows within shows, and all that other matryoshka meta-textual goodness. It’s a brilliant ideal pulled off with aplomb by Lynn Fisher, and you can contribute with titles to keep adding to the 31st century Jorge Luis Borges-esqe database.
You can sign up for Bloody Disgusting’s all new weekly newsletter, The Rewind.
Trent Reznor remixed Danny Elfman’s song, “True” (upon Elfman’s invitation). The result can be found in most music places, but here are the links for the track in Spotify and YouTube forms.
It’s the trailer for the third season of Doom Patrol, y’all. And they’re bringing Monsieur Mallah and The Brain with them when it returns September 23 on HBO Max.
Shameless Self Promotion Time!!!
Please read my review of FREE GUY (it’s fine!).
Please read my review of THE SUICIDE SQUAD (it’s fun, funny, and filled with gratuitous violence!).
Please read my review of JUNGLE CRUISE (it’s fun but flawed!).
Please read my review of THE GREEN KNIGHT (it’s great but may not necessarily fit your mood!).
Mondo has a new line of 200-piece jigsaw puzzles called “Legends Of VHS”. The first one depicts 1986’s RAD and can be yours for $19.99 (plus shipping/tax).
Speaking of puzzles, there are 14 days left in Holly Carden’s Kickstarter for their jigsaw puzzle of Bran Castle (from Dracula). It’s not only stunning visually, but also is able to tell almost the entire tale of Stoker’s book in its 1000 pieces. Check it out and support today.
Lizzo is back and badder than ever! The sultry sovereign of self-love and sassiness teamed up with Cardi B for the new single “Rumors” and its heavily Disney’s HERCULES-inspired music video.
A24 will be streaming THE GREEN KNIGHT for one night only (or “one Knight only”; eh? eh? I hate this place) on AUGUST 18. Get more information and tickets by going to A24’s Screening Room site (and their screening room is also available as an app on a bunch of platforms).
If you’re looking for an incredible super hero artist that is at once classic throwback and a nice touch of the new, then I suggest checking out Leonardo Romero. His stuff is DOPE.

Did you enjoy THE SUICIDE SQUAD? Sure you did. To recapture that fun and intrigue and weirdness, dive into the comic book source material. But where to start? Well here is Fred Van Lente’s list of the Top 13 original Suicide Squad stories.
Hanging With Doctor Z is a true delight where comedic wunderkind Dana Gould dons his (personal) Dr. Zaius costume and hosts an oddball late night talk show that feels like if Dick Cavett drank absinthe during commercial breaks. It’s very reminiscent of Space Ghost: Coast To Coast but is its only beautiful, weird ass thing that treads in old Hollywood gossip and simply absurd bits of Dr. Z’s expansive biography. The Kickstarter for season two has 17 days left to go - please support now if you can!
Below is the video for “So May We Start” from ANNETTE. It’s the best song from Leos Carax’s new film, which is a confounding oddity filled with unique moments cinematically and musically (the songs all provided by Sparks). Not always a good thing, but certainly a welcomed one. My review of ANNETTE will be posted here next week. But enjoy this pretty intoxicating song and dance routine from the folks that worked on it:
