2021 Trailer Mashup by Sleepy Skunk

There are a few annual videos to which I look forward. Most of them will be posted on this site around when they are published (or a few weeks after), and this is one of them. For twelve years now, Sleepy Skunk has been releasing his stupendous Movie Trailer Mashup of the year, using shots/sequences/dialogue/music from the various trailers released in 2021. These excellent videos inherently have a great criteria as they are trailers for films that hit the festival circuit in 2020 but finally were given a trailer and released, or got a trailer but ended up getting bumped into the future of 2022 or beyond.

I’ve been a major fan of Sleepy Skunk for a long time now, even interviewing him for Daily Grindhouse in 2019 on the occasion of his tenth anniversary putting out these terrifically edited glimpses into the movie landscape. There’s a ton of skill on display that finds similar rhythms, imagery, and vibes between possibly disparate titles that also create a sort of mood board of the year in film.
