David Bowie, “Let’s Dance” (Isolated Vocals)

Much like covers, different edits of songs can reveal new layers and aspects that went unnoticed previously. Inspired by the use of “Let’s Dance” in BARDO, I sought out a version of David Bowie’s bop with isolated vocals. And, as usual, the Internet provided. While I found the original fine but disposable, stripped of the backing horns and synths, this hit becomes a weirdly haunting and plaintive call for jubilation amidst the nothingness. It’s unexpected but wonderfully beautiful.
