David Ehrlich’s Top 25 Films of 2021

There are some nerdy annual traditions that film dorks look forward to not just for the substance of the presentation but also the style. Sleepy Skunk’s trailer mashup is one of those fun yearly videos that do a good job of encapsulating the year in movies. Another one is David Ehrlich’s Top 25 Films, in which the critic not only presents clips and a countdown of his top movies of the previous year, but does so using music from those films and with a prologue that also acts as an overview of the cinematic landscape of 2021.

Not only is this an impressive bit of editing and a propulsive dive into last year’s filmmaking, but there’s also a good cause attached, as the writer explains:

if you'd like to see a countdown video for the films of 2022 and/or if you'd like to help support the far more urgent and important work of providing access to abortions for women in Texas, please join me in donating to the three non-profits that THE POWER OF THE DOG director Jane Campion has selected for this year's fundraiser: gofund.me/81ba33f0

Please follow Ehrlich on Twitter and check out his other videos on Vimeo. And please donate to the excellent (and very important) cause that Campion has requested.
