‘Dirty Dancing’ from Principal’s Office

It’s weird how some things linger in our minds no matter how small or in passing they are. I have piles of clips sitting in my brain (probably taking up precious space that should be dedicated to birthdays and basic skills) that stemmed from E! Network’s The Soup. The Talk Soup variant, hosted by Joel McHale, was a veritable fount of comedic gold.

One of those snippets of a TV show that remains firmly entrenched in head is this clip from truTV’s The Principal’s Office. The basic premise of the reality show is watching a principal navigate their responsibilities. But where this shines is when a Vice Principal calls in two students to help quash the rise of grinding and other lewd choreography at school dances. These two guys end up showcasing some brilliant comic timing and lovable absurdist humor. Sure, like all reality TV, it could be tweaked and scripted—but I choose to believe we live in a world where these preternaturally hilarious teens figured out the perfect way to mock the whole inane situation.
