Jordan Klepper Fingers The Midterms - America Unfollows Democracy

The U.S. midterm elections are underway, with early voting already taking place across the country. It’s an unusually important election cycle mostly because a large swath of candidates aren’t really “feeling” democracy and instead are looking to supersede the will of the people in pursuit of their own corpulent demagogue. And while that reality is crushingly depressing, Jordan Klepper adds a bit of humor into the darkness with this special that aired on Comedy Central. The entire 30-minute special is now available on YouTube and finds the comedian/political reporter traveling to Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Arizona and noticing a trend of election deniers and conspiracy theorists gearing up to take over the government…possibly by any means necessary (including a civil war! Woot woo!). It’s a well-made piece of comedic journalism that alternates between awfully hilarious and just awful with its look at the state of our nation.

Winning may not be enough to combat this tidal wave of idiocy, but it is the important first step in shutting them down. So please be sure you are registered to vote and get out there and vote as soon as possible. (Early voting allows candidates to redirect their efforts to groups that haven’t yet voted for them) But even if you can’t go early, just vote - bring a friend, make sure all of them vote, and so on. If nothing else, that “I Voted” sticker will be a nice piece of memorabilia from democracy’s farewell tour.
