Stephen King Hates Halloween

The Master Of Horror refuses to be your Spooky Santa.

In this 2005 clip from Late Night With Conan O’Brien, Stephen King talks about how he went from loving the holiday to loathing it due to the throngs of people that show up and expect him to perform. It’s a bit unfortunate, but it makes sense; that pervasive feeling of being a dancing monkey forced to put on a show is rarely simpatico with the solitary life of a paperback writer (performances in CREEPSHOW and KNIGHTRIDERS notwithstanding).

Watch Maine’s favorite son talk about Halloween, what gives him nightmares, and more in this brief interview between the two New Englanders from September 2005.
