The Assassination Of Yogi Bear By The Coward BooBoo

Not every Afternoon Delight will be the latest entry from some brilliant artist on the web. Sometimes it’s nice to revisit a classic that may have been lost in the shuffle since its creation. Such is the case today as we highlight the incredibly insane and perfectly executed animation parody from the less broken world of 2010. This “alternative ending” to the live action 2010 YOGI BEAR film is so brilliant and well-crafted that people thought it was done by the original CG animators of the film as a goof. But no! It was the brainchild of RISD-educated animator Edmund Earle. Earle took inspiration from the titular act of 2007’s THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD (directed by Andrew Dominick) and manages to make an impressive simulacrum of the scene, but this time populated by beloved ursine Hanna-Barbera characters. BooBoo tearfully must follow through on his plans while Yogi accepts his untimely fate. It remains hilarious in its solemn approach and a thing of true beauty.

If you enjoy this, please subscribe to Earle’s YouTube channel and follow him on Twitter.

If you’re curious just how close these animators got to the actual film, here’s the original scene from THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD:
