MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL Restored

THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL has been a beloved holiday classic since its release in 1992. The blend of seriousness of Michael Caine’s oddly devoted performance and the silliness of the Muppet antics creates a fun hybrid that matches the tone of Dickens’ original without being too stale or trite. But apparently the version most people saw for years—including those, like myself, who watched it in theaters—was incomplete.

Entertain The Elk released a video going over the missing scene (and song) that was cut right before the movie was released. The channel goes into the history of the film itself before exploring what the scene was, why it was actually important to the overall story (and storytelling), and how Disney has finally rectified the issue by using the completed version on Disney+.

It’s a fascinating look at a lesser known facet of Muppet history and will lead you to revisit the 1992 family film. If you like Entertain The Elk’s video be sure to subscribe to their channel and support their Patreon.
