Afternoon Delights: “Shaturday Morning Cartoons: The Littles”

A running theme that will show up all over Neon Splatter is that I am a massive fan of everything the Found Footage Festival does. Their compilations, live tours, and multiple recurring Internet shows are all golden with fantastic material that is either bizarrely familiar or blissfully forgotten, but either way now thankfully brought back into the light. But the material can only do so much, and that’s why founders/curators/hosts Joe Pickett and Nick Prueher are just as vital in delivering these media oddities with humor and the shared befuddlement of everyone else watching.

One of FFF’s weekly shows is Shaturday Morning Cartoons where Pickett and Prueher are joined by frequent collaborator/VHS detective/alleged creep George Pasles and a guest to watch an episode of some mis-begotten cartoon, some era-appropriate commercials, eat some cereal, have some fun, and maybe even learn a lesson or two. This installment focuses on an episode from ‘80s TV series The Littles and the trio are joined by a frequent Shaturday Morning Cartoons guest—Caitlin McGurk, Associate Curator of Outreach & Associate Professor for The Ohio State University’s Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum.

This particular episode of The Littles is great as it involves Hollywood, substance abuse, and tiny people causing havoc in Hollywood while abusing substances.
