Space Performing “Magic Fly” in 1977

Some days you just need some 1970s sci-fi inspired French techno funk. This is one of those days.

Here is the musical group Space performing “Magic Fly” in 1977.

The song was originally created by Didier Marouani, Roland Romanelli, Jannick Top, and Madeline Bell in 1976 about astrology. Marouani was already under contract with Polydor and management felt like the sound wasn’t aligned with how they wanted to pitch him. So Marouani adopted the pseudonym “Ecama”, the group signed with another label as “Space”, and to avoid getting in trouble with Polydor they had to perform in secret…hence, the spacesuits. No word if they also appeared in a gorgeous but poorly structured sci-fi sequel.

To learn more about this French band, which ostensibly was together from 1977-1981 before changing line-ups and names, please read about Space here.
