Each week, Neon Splatter contributors offer up some viewing options found on streaming (U.S. unless otherwise noted). Movies, TV shows, specials, and more. New and old, from all sorts of genres and nations. Most importantly, we deem them worthy of your time.

Jeremy Lowe: SCREAM BABY SCREAM (1969)

What It Is: A psycho artist kidnaps models and slices up their faces to create new mutant models.

Where It Is: Prime Video

Why You Should Watch It: “I'm a huge Roger Corman and Larry Cohen fan, so finding a film written by Cohen that is a complete love letter to Corman's early works is a dream come true. SCREAM BABY SCREAM incorporates plot points from BUCKET OF BLOOD (1959), and THE TRIP (1967) while maintaining its own sense of itself. Great soundtrack, score, and costumes all add to the hippie/beatnik madness. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!”

Khayla McGowan: COFFY (1973)

What It Is: Nurse "Coffy" Coffin leads a double life. During the day, she's a nurse at work. At night, she's an avenging angel on a personal vendetta, tracking down the drug pushers who hooked her younger sister on drugs. Along the way, she meets a honest police detective who also is leading a double life.

Where It Is: Prime Video

Why You Should Watch It: “Pam Grier is the Blaxploitation Queen for a reason. My first movie from her was SCREAM BLACULA SCREAM and while that will remain my favorite of hers so far, the action and incredulity of this movie is a close second! Not for the faint of heart, I liked this as an intersectional conversation about race, gender, and the murky waters of identity.”

Rob Dean:  The Resort (2022)

What It Is: An anniversary trip puts a marriage to the test when a couple finds themselves embroiled in one of Yucatan's most bizarre unsolved mysteries from 15 years prior involving the disappearance of two young adults, a murder and a once in a century hurricane; with everything connected, solving the crime requires unraveling some of life's biggest questions.

Where It Is: Peacock

Why You Should Watch It: “With its cast of quirky characters, fun adventuring, some metaphysical probing, and gentle weirdness, The Resort plays like a Tom Robbins novel. Cristin Milioti is tremendous in the lead role and has fantastic chemistry with William Jackson Harper. It’s an oddball mystery that’s more about the sleuthing than the solve.”
