Chicago Film Festival’s After Dark programming has been announced and it has some great titles that folks in the area will want to check out, including THE SADNESS, THE BETA TEST, and more. The screenings will be a mix of virtual, in person, and at the drive-in. Check out the schedule that runs from October 13-24, make your plans accordingly, and then watch some dope horror movies. (Stay tuned to Neon Splatter for some more info on this event as we speak with its programmer, Raul Benitez).
What are you doing next summer? I know it’s presumptive to assume there’ll be a next summer, but if interested, check out this adventure package in June 2022 with real life superhero Kendall Tichner. Hanging out, exploring Yellowstone and the Grand Teton, while getting in some fun archery and birding experiences. When Thunderdome comes around, it may be useful to have some survival skills.
While arrival of the books themselves have been delayed due to overseas shipping issues that seem to be plaguing everyone, These Fists Break Bricks has an incredible website full of fun posters, info, events, and other stuff related to Kung Fu movies through the ages. Curated by the authors Grady Hendrix and Chris Poggiali, it’s a great site to check out to find cool images and titles of movies to add to your watchlist.

Here’s a Twitter thread on Neon Splatter’s payment structure/situation as we seek to be transparent in all things.
A note that my (Rob Dean’s) personal Twitter account (@NeuroticMonkey) has been suspended for over two weeks for DMCA violation, but I have yet to receive any information on what tweets were in violation of what copyright material as claimed/reported by whom, and there has yet to be any information about how to get the suspension lifted. If interested, please feel free to notify Twitter Support about how this all seems pretty weak sauce. Thanks!
Remember how “The New 52” at DC Comics was both incredibly promising and also a major fustercluck? Not to mention it was like the third reboot in a decade? Polygon does and got an oral history of the launch of this new era of the comic book company continuity that generated lots of buzz, new fans, promising stories—but also a ton of confusion and frustration.
Nerdist is right—this singing ringing tree is right out of a horror movie. And it. Is. Glorious.
