Help Genre Graveyard finish its episodes! The quirky love letter to horror featuring puppets, hilarity, and style needs help funding their episodes after El Rey network went away. Please go here to learn more and give if you can (or at least share on your social media and to others).
Disney+’s Moon Knight series was allegedly allowed to get ‘very weird’ according to star Oscar Isaac. The Marvel character is an intriguing mix of mythology and mental illness, so hopefully the show is able to delve into that in especially bizarre ways (plus it would fit in the wheelhouse for directors Aaron Moorehead and Justin Benson who helm all the episodes).
Film School Rejects assembles its 50 Best Movies of 2021.
Help support the return of Los Angeles-based video/movie store Vidiots by sponsoring your own shelf dedicated to a particular artist. Whether its the star or director, there are multiple impressive names that you can support for a one time fee (it’s like an NFT but not a scam and people actually care). Go to their site to see the shelves available and/or pick up other merch to help Vidiots rise once more from the ashes!
The Afterparty is a terrific show that further cements Lord & Miller as being in the running for best creative streak in Hollywood. A terrific cast buoyed by excellent music (by Daniel Pemberton), and all playing with different genre formats and tropes each. It’s on Apple TV+, but you can watch the first episode for free on YouTube to get a taste of it:
Some a$$hole threw a snowball at me while I was in the middle of my rant. Does anyone know who this is? I’m very upset by this pic.twitter.com/UMZfChLRmV

I know it’s over a year old, but I don’t care! This oral history of SOUTHLAND TALES from The A.V. Club is still interesting as hell. Plus I will seize on any opportunity to talk about that goofy movie.
Speaking of The A.V. Club, did you know the people that own it are horrible asshats deserving of mockery and publicly shaming? It’s true! They tried to force a bunch of writers and editors to relocate from Chicago to Los Angeles and, before the deadline arrive for staffers to even decide, the shitty shitty owners posted openings for those jobs in L.A.. What a bunch of cockweasels! If you see them in the wild, be sure to spit at them. Just right in their face. They’ll know what it’s about.

Brad Henderson of Vinegar Syndrome curated a ranked list of Gialli (Italian horror/thrillers) on Letterboxd with over 230 titles. It’s a great encapsulation of the classics and lesser known films that are full of style, sleaze, intrigue, lust, and more. Check it out and see how many you’ve seen!
Curious about why so many big title games are coming out week after week these days? Turns out it’s a part of the pandemic, partly by design, but all very annoying. Polygon investigates what caused this convergence in video gaming.
THE LONG WALK, the latest film by Laotian American writer/director Mattie Do, is coming to theaters February 18 and digital/on demand March 1. It’s a great film I saw at Fantastic Fest a few years ago and well worth checking out. Here’s the synopsis with the trailer below: “An old scavenger living on the fringes of a near-future society exploits a ghostly companion’s ability to traverse time, hoping to prevent his mother’s suffering from a terminal illness.”
Turns out that when Walt Disney died, there were a few papers that didn’t do a great job of reporting on it. At least, not in the headline department as Defunctland found in this hilarious Twitter thread.
Netflix released its slate of original films for 2022. There’s some interesting titles (KNIVES OUT 2) along with some…things that are definitely movies.

Here’s Nicki Minaj’s latest music video for “Do We Have A Problem? (feat Lil Baby)” and it reminds me of those weird mini-movies Puff Daddy and Mariah Carey used to make with Hype Williams and others where it feels like the musicians are angling for more acting work but…maybe they shouldn’t be?
