Marvel x The Weeknd

Mash-ups—you know I love ‘em! It’s the synthesis of works and multiple artists that creates some impactful experience. Taking multiple audio and visual aspects of disparate things to create a sort of emotional narrative in some way belies an ability to see a pattern that otherwise doesn’t exist for most people. In doing so, such mash-ups can even find new depths in the works they highlight, essentially condensing their thematic brilliance into one superstrain of awesome.

At first glance, today’s is just a brilliant exercise in perfectly pairing movement, transitions, colors, and timing along with a terrific song by The Weeknd. But editor madxthing delivers not only a superlative lesson in those areas to create a rhythmic gymnastics of kineticism, but in doing so she ends up finding ways to unearth new heart and even a sense of echoing questions. Debuting seven months ago, and distilled from multiple MCU properties (it appears to be up through and including ETERNALS and Hawkeye), this video utilizes “Blinding Lights” in a tremendously fun and seemingly perfectly choreographed flow of movement and energy between scenes that establish a whole infectious vibe. If you dig it, be sure to subscribe to madxthing’s YouTube channel, follow her on Instagram, follow her on Twitter, and send her some nice donations through ko-fi if you can.
